The full form of UGC is university grant commission. This was established in the year 1956. UGC conduct a test which is called NET (National eligibility Test). This test is generally conducted to evaluate the eligibility for lectureship in college and university level. Candidates are given awards for successful completion of research and PhD as a part of Junior Research Fellowship.

Junior research fellowship will be offered to all the UGC and CSIR written cleared students. They will be offered RS 25000 per month and with this fellowship these candidates can pursue further doctoral studies.
Pattern of papers:
The pattern of papers for UGC NET is divided into three parts.
First paper is related with the general knowledge. Each student will get 15 minutes to complete this part. Total 60 questions will be there one need to attempt at least 50 questions out of 60. First paper will carry 100 marks.
Second paper is related will the subject chosen by the candidate. Each student will get 1 hour 15 minutes to complete that paper. Each question is mandatory to answer. There will be total 50 questions. This paper will also carry 100 marks.
Third paper is also related with the subject opted by the student. Total 70 questions will be there all are compulsory to answer. Total marks in this segment are 150 and time duration is 2 hours 30 minutes.
