Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana

Kishore Viagyanik Protsahan Yojana is a very prestigious scholarship that was started in the year 1999 and is given to the students of India. It is a nationwide scholarship funded by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. Through this scholarship the students can showcase their talents and aptitude in the areas of basic science, engineering and technology. This scholarship is given to the studentsupto the P.hDlevel.The students who qualify KVPY are given direct admission to the two top science research Institutes in India. They are The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and All India Institute of Scientific Education and Research (IISER).IISc Bangalore administers this scholarship.

KVPY Application process:The candidates who are willing to avail the scholarship need to fill the KVPY application form and then appear in the Aptitude Test. The application form generally begins in the month of July and the candidates can fill the application form through Online mode only. The online application forms are available for the candidates in its official website. Candidates need to fill all the details in the application form by registering with a valid user id and password. Then the candidates need to upload their photograph, signature and the caste or disability certificate if applicable. After entering all the details in the application form the candidates need to preview their application which is very important to make correction in the form in case of any error. After the complete filling of the online application form the candidates need to make the payment of application fees. The application fees for General and OBC candidates are Rs 1000 and that for SC and ST are Rs. 500. The application fee can be paid by the candidates by two modes that online through net banking and offline through bank challan.

After filling the application form the candidates can appear for the aptitude test that will be conducted in the month of November. There are three categories in which the aptitude test will be conducted. They are as follows:

· Stream SA- Class 11 students: Students enrolled in class 11 in science stream and willing to join undergraduate program in basic science that is B.Sc/B.S/B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc/M.S.

· Stream SX- Class 12 students: Students enrolled in class 12 in science stream and willing to join undergraduate program in basic science that is B.Sc/B.S/B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc/M.S.

· Stream SB- Students enrolled in First Year B.Sc/B.S/B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S in basic sciences.

The fellowship is renewed every year according to the academic performance of the students and the students must have scored 60% in addition to participation and satisfactory performance in the summer camp in the first year and summer project every year.

Result: Generally, the exam conducting authority publishes the results of the Aptitude Test within a month after its completion. Candidates who are shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the aptitude test will be called for an interview round. The final results will be declared after the successful completion of both the stages of selection.
